VICON
PRESENTS A NEW SELF-PROPELLED MOWER CONCEPT |
|
 |
Vicon, a brand of the Kverneland Group,
presents a new self-propelled mower concept on the Holland
Agri Exhibition in Amsterdam,
to obtain feedback from potential customers.
The concept is an answer to the growing demand from
professional contractors for wider mowers.
The Vicon self-propelled mower incorporates
three disc or drum mowers with a total working width of
9.40 m and a JCB traction unit
powered by a 340 hp Cummings
engine.
The main features of the mower concept are the following:
- Excellent view on the mowers thanks to the high cab
well positioned to the rear: all mowers are in front
of the cab.
- Clear visibility during transport as a result of the
reverse steering facility: all mowers are behind the
cab. This allows safe road speeds of 40 km.
|
|
- A 50/50 weight distribution for safe road transport and
minimal soil compaction in the field.
- Enormous versatility thanks to
4-wheel steering combined with
articulated steering. The turning circle
is less than 4 m.
- Flexible mowing system which accommodates both disc and
drum mowers, for wide spreading or swath mowing.
The development of the self-propelled mower concept is the
result of close cooperation between the R&D departments of
the Kverneland Group mower factories in Nieuw-Vennep and
Geldrop in the Netherlands and Kerteminde in Denmark.
The concept will be extensively
field tested in 2001. |
